So just curious what you guys think.
Which do you think is better, and which do you like better?
Myspace or facebook

Facebook. Mainly because I find it semi useful on ocasion, and it doesn't immediately start blasting music when I load a page so that I'm unable to hear my screen reader unless I happen to have an external synth just laying around or something.

facebook. it has very good accessibility, and it's a nicer layout all round. myspace is good, it's got the blog feature which i don't think facebook has, but that's all it's good for

Post 4 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 09-Dec-2008 12:02:14

Some people use Facebook's Notes feature as a blog. Many of my friends from college and previous jobs are on Facebook.

Post 5 by CrazedMidget (Sweet fantacy's really do come in small packages!) on Tuesday, 09-Dec-2008 15:28:38

Yeah, i agree, I think facebook is better, but I use both myspace and facebook

Post 6 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 09-Dec-2008 15:45:06

Facebook has become some what difficult for me so I use myspace more.

Post 7 by Morgan_Lynn (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 09-Dec-2008 21:20:54

I agree with Ranebow Jessica...Facebook because of the new layout has become a little more dificult, so mainly now I use Myspace. However I do drop in on Facebook every great once and a while.

I don't see what so many people find difficult about the new facebook. I find it perfectly usable, though I do tend to turn off auto forms mode when using it, as for some reason it doesn't play nicely. Other than that I have had little to no problem with it.

I like my space more. All though it keeps coming up with erors mistakes. I find hi 5 easier all round.

Post 10 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 11-Dec-2008 14:02:34

The only thing i am getting kind of annoyed at is that everytime i log in to myspace, i have to hit skip this advertisement to get to my home page.

Post 11 by CrazedMidget (Sweet fantacy's really do come in small packages!) on Thursday, 11-Dec-2008 16:35:09

Oh yes, i've been going bak on myspace more, and I've been getting that same thing. Its like, who really cares, everyone skips the advertisements anyway

Facebook has less flash and pictures and it doesn't take a million years to load like My Space. It's also less cluttered

Post 13 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Sunday, 04-Jan-2009 17:06:59

I have a Facebook, but to be honest, I don't go on very much anymore. I use The Zone, Klango and I'm also on a networking site for my business, but that's it.

Post 14 by buster gonad (Account disabled) on Sunday, 04-Jan-2009 17:57:54

face book is much better for personal friends and that kind of thing so i use it for that.
but myspace i still use for networking and work reasons some times.

FOr peple who aren't that into the new layout, wx1g dave hunt gave me a great alternative. If your go to m.facebook.com, it should make it a lot easier on you. This is a site meant for cell phones, but will work with regular PC's as well. It gets rid of a lot of the clutter and graphics on the site.

Post 16 by SFAIdol (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Tuesday, 06-Jan-2009 20:38:44

I like facebook a lot better than myspace. I'm on facebook a lot because my sorrority sisters and college friends use it a loot. That's y I originally got it, when I joined my sorrority, but of course, I've found friends from high school along the way and use applications, and now, I'm an addict. Although I don't have myspace myself, I've been on other friends profiles and don't particularly enjoy it. Besides, all my friends, except for my yunger friends still in high school, do not use myspace hardly at all. At first, I hated the new layout of facebook but am now used to it.

guys, i have one word for you. firefox. it works wonders with face book, but you have to kno how to run it, and it doesn't make jaws lag like IE does on there. plus, i think you can set firefox up to block most, if not all the advertising on face book. i only use IE if i want to join a group or something like that, and that's the only draw back with firefox....jaws won't read the buttons if they're not actual links....or i haven't been able to get it to myself. lol

Post 18 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 7:32:58

I used to like Facebook better, but now that I've been using the mobile versions most of the time of both that and Myspace (thanks for the Facebook link posted above by the way), both are about equally easier to navigate. However, I like Myspace more only because I know more people that have it like a lot of my relatives, and I hardly know anyone well that uses Facebook.

Post 19 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 14:52:32

Thanks. I'm checking out Mobile Facebook right now.
Myspace crashes my internet so it's like impossible to use. How do you block ads in firefox?

Post 20 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 14:58:28

Wow. i can post on my own wall again. I'm one of the few crazy people who does.

Oooooo! I like this mobile facebook so much better. It plays very nicely with Safari. I donno why, but since I added Facebook to Adium, I've been getting this stupid text input box when I go on the main site. Also, I can't seem to get notes to work. I donno why, cause I haven't tried it in awhile, but it just didn't like Safari. maybe now, I'll be able to use it instead of having to post things in status and then comment to them. Mostly, I'm a Livejournal user. I find myspace to be very confusing and annoying, especially cause of the music on some people's profiles. I tried to join but found that it was inaccessible at the time.

Post 22 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 15:10:05

Okay, I've got one question. why doesn't my status show up after I post like it does with the regular site?

Post 23 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 15:15:06

You have to tab over to update status for it to work.

Post 24 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 17:05:25

to whoever asked, i think you have to in-able something in firefox's settings to block advertisements, and any websight you go on, it will just skip over them automatically.

Post 25 by Miss Gorgeous (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 07-Jan-2009 18:11:55

I like Facebook more than Myspace because its more personal, its easy to use, and its private available for people you know. I know Myspace has the same feature, but I don't like their layouts. Facebook is more simple and it looks the same for everyone's page layouts unlike Myspace that you have to find a cute layout for your page. Its a hasel and a total waste of time. If your blind or visually impaired, I wouldn't recomend Myspace. Facebook is more user friendly.

Post 26 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 08-Jan-2009 23:17:28

Ok, this one is easy. Update your hosts file. If you would like to know how, send me a private chat. Basically all your going to do is replace a file that has the addresses of a bunch of ad sites like add.doubleclick.net. If you would like the file, email me your email and i'll send it as an attachment with instructions on where to put it. For firefox, you can enhanse the hosts files protecton with an add on called addblock+. This blocks adds from popping up on pages.

oh, facebook without a doubt. I find myspace way to cluttered.
The new facebook has been not the easiest to get use too, but I mostly use m.facebook.com now, and it solves all the problems! :)
I've found so many old school buddies on there! :)

facebook by far!!

Post 29 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Saturday, 17-Jan-2009 3:44:13

I have seen both and I find facebook more accessible.

Post 30 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 18-Jan-2009 10:32:38

Hey, for all you myspace haters, try this out. Just like with mobile facebook, theirs a mobile myspace, that strips it down to the bare minimum. Its just like facebook, m.myspace.com. Enjoy.

Post 31 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 29-Jul-2010 13:03:48

I now actually have more people I know that use Facebook, but I still like Myspace more. I mostly have everything filled out on my Myspace site, so didn't really fill out my Facebook one. I pretty much only have Facebook because I know more people on it and am more likely to find others I know, but about the only thing I do on there is respond to other's wall posts/statuses.

Post 32 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Friday, 30-Jul-2010 19:12:43

I personally feel Myspace s better. Yeah it's got a lot of adds and things but I still find it infinitely more usable than Facebook, and yes that includes the Mobile version. At least on Myspace when I hit enter on a link I know it's worked, which is more than I can say for Facebook.I always have to refresh the screen first, which has never been a problem for me on Myspace. Needless to say though I did have a Facebook at one time I never logged in so I deactivated it.

Post 33 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 30-Jul-2010 20:34:32

facebook is starting to become a myspace with all the refreshing and all you have to do.

Post 34 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Saturday, 31-Jul-2010 10:48:01

As for the music and stuff on Myspace you can actually set it up so that you don't hear it. I forget exactly where it is but under Account Settings or that equivalent there is an option to allow auto start of other people's music players. If you uncheck this box and hit Save Changes it'll make it so that when you click on a person's profile that has music it won't automatically play so you can hear your screen reader.

I officially permanently deleted my facebook account earlier. whoohoo.

Post 36 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Saturday, 31-Jul-2010 21:41:24

I deactivated mine, although I don't know if that's the same.

Post 37 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Sunday, 01-Aug-2010 10:34:57

no, it's not. deactivating your account saves all your information, but permanently deleting it does away with it completely. I had to go to the help menu to find out how to delete it; I typed in "permanently deleting account" or something like that, and it was pretty quick and easy. the only bumber is the captcha they have you fill out...but thankfully they have an option for an audio one.

Post 38 by Perestroika (Her Swissness) on Monday, 02-Aug-2010 13:37:22

Facebook, definitely. I like the way the profiles are presented, I can upload pictures easily for my sighted friends, and generally, more of my friends use it, so my updates on fb are heard by all my friends.

Post 39 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 02-Aug-2010 18:25:32

My first experience with mySpace was my nieces stuck to it like a moth to light in 2005 / 2006 or so. I thought it was a kid thing so never really even messed with it, except when my daughter got one till she became bored with it.
I don't know how mySpace is used frankly, but most people my age or in my peer group who are now on Facebook have done it because family and friends were there. So, you get on Facebook because everyone else at the party and / or in your family sphere is posting all their content to Facebook rather than updating their address books with countless changes of email addresses.
So, much as I used to scorn social networking, I'm on now, Facebook for friends and family / hobbies and on here. Ironically, had we not moved out of the city for the benefit of our daughter's school, I may never have done it, or at least put it off.
But basically when everyone does their events that way, updates their profiles, no more letters going around via email, posts pics / vids from events / kids' stuff, you're either on Facebook or you're kind of a Scrooge, maybe a bit of both.

Post 40 by Perestroika (Her Swissness) on Tuesday, 03-Aug-2010 9:18:08

Lol, yeah, I remember the time when people used to email...

but then again that was annoying, at least I don't have to read individual emails, I can look at stuff if I want to, I can glance at something and see if I want to know more.

Post 41 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Tuesday, 03-Aug-2010 10:21:58

quite frankly, I don't care to know what everyone else is up to; I initially joined facebook cause it was cool for a time.

Post 42 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 03-Aug-2010 10:29:06

Weirder still, when I first did it I set one up to help my wife do hers. She didn't want it after awhile, so I have switched to using the mobile site which is far more convenient for me, but kind of ironic I guess. She's still down on the social networking thing, and I've moved on from laughing at it to using it as just another medium.
To Fighter: It wouldn't make sense to see people's updates you see every day anyway, but with family all over the world it's nice to see what others are up to.

Post 43 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Tuesday, 03-Aug-2010 12:03:58

I have family and friends all over too, believe it or not, but I still feel that way. I'm an oddball and proud of it, though.

Post 44 by saiyan4414 (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Tuesday, 03-Aug-2010 12:51:28

Facebook all the way have a myspace but almost never use it anymore, but it's still there and I go look at it every once i a while.
